What to expect: Your first indoor rowing class

We all know the feeling before trying a new workout class. It’s a mix of sheer excitement and nerves. In this post we layout exactly how a Row Republic class will go from start to finish so you can understand how it all goes down.

Before Class

  • Arrive 15-20 minutes early (you only have to do this before your first class)

  • Check-in with the friendly front desk staff and throw your stuff into one of our self-locking lockers

  • Learn to Row (15 mins), our orientation to our class where you will:

    • Receive a mini tutorial on how the Technogym Skillrow indoor rowing machines work and how they are used in a class

    • Learn proper rowing technique with a guided, interactive explanation with one of our instructors

    • Go through rowing drills and row at all the different stroke rates used in a class

    • Learn to Row is taught in a friendly, educational environment with all the lights on so you can get all your questions answered before class begins. It is required for all new rowers so that you don’t have to worry about safety and can focus on getting after it in class!

During Class

  • Fist bump your instructor as you enter our studio, the Deep Blue, because t’s time to crank it up. Go to your station that you picked when you booked the class online and this is where your workout begins.

  • Classes are typically 60 minutes. We begin with a warm up interval for both the rowers and the floor so your blood is pumping and your body is ready to go. During this time period, an instructor assistant will come by each rower for a quick form check to make sure everything is on point.

  • The lights go down, the music cranks up.

  • Your instructor guides you through both rowing and strength training intervals typically 5-7 minutes in length.

  • We focus on different muscle groups everyday including upper body, lower body, full body, and core fusion.

After Class

  • Take advantage of our spa shower rooms stocked with Sachajuan products and our styling area with Drybar blow dryers and hair products.

  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate...before, during, and after class.

  • Repeat. We recommend 3-5 classes a week for maximum results. Our class packs provide flexibility but Joining the Republic is the most cost effective package we offer. Side note: you will get in the best shape of your life and be smiling while you do it.
